Major crimes, where the file outgrows the team

Major cases are not hard because any one document is hard. They are hard because there are thousands of them, they arrive over months, and the detail that matters is usually in the one nobody has re-read.

A major case file grows faster than any individual can hold in their head. Statements, notebooks, warrant applications, canvass results, phone records, camera reviews and progress reports accumulate over months — and the connection that breaks the case is often between two documents filed weeks apart by different officers.

The work of noticing that connection is not glamorous. It is re-reading, cross-referencing, and remembering what a witness said in an interview conducted before half the current team joined the file. It is exactly the work that degrades as a file gets larger, and exactly the work that a review or an inquiry later asks whether anyone did.

Case Intelligence Assistant does not make investigative judgements. It makes the file navigable — so the judgement an investigator makes is made having seen everything in it, rather than everything they could remember.

What the platform does here

Major Crimes

Inconsistency detection

Surfaces contradictions across all documents for investigator review — timeline conflicts, description mismatches, and factual discrepancies. Each inconsistency is classified by type and ranked by severity, with the exact conflicting quotes shown side by side.

Cited natural-language query

Ask questions about the case in plain English or French. Answers are grounded only in the evidence in the file, and every response carries citations to document name, page number, and relevance score.

Timeline reconstruction

Assembles a draft chronology from every dated event across the file, so investigators can review gaps, overlaps, and sequences. Each event links back to the document it came from.

Entity and relationship mapping

Identifies people, vehicles, locations, and phone numbers across the file and shows how they connect, with an interactive network view over the relationships between them.

Every finding is presented for investigator review, and every operation is recorded in a hash-chained audit log.

See it on a case file like yours.

A demonstration runs on a synthetic case in under an hour — ingest, ask hard questions, and verify every citation yourself.
